need some help please.

Recently purchased my first diesel. Its a 05 Cummins 2500 with a auto tranny. Has 200k on it. The truck cranks about 7 times before it fires. What could this be? The truck runs perfect and has never failed to start. If in neutral and rev the truck up then let off the throttle it will cut out as it idles back down. And the abs and brake light are on when I start the truck sometimes they will go off when I start driving. Truck throws 2 codes p1652 and p0483. The engine temp is also running about 210. Sorry for the long post just trying to get some places to start looking thanks Josh

Any Mods?

Maybe a poor connection at the PCM.

Where is the pcm loacated? I don't know a lot about diesels thanks in advance. And just 4" strait pipe to 5" tip. Other than thatbi was told it was stock

The ECM is on the left side of the engine block.
The PCM is on the right rear of the engine compartment.

Injectors excessive return flow
Check for bubbles in the coolant test for the temp to high or plugged radiator fins
Speed sensor connection or adjust for ABS/brake light
load test batteries and clean all batt connections for codes reset

P1652 Short To Ground

P0483 Fan Speed

With those 2 codes unplug the fan harness at lower drive side of the engine. It looks like you have a shorted fan and that will cause all the problems you describe. The ABS and brake could also be related.

The slow start and rough idle down MAY be electrical so solve that problem first, or, it could be worn injectors bypassing too much fuel and not seating correctly when fuel is reduced.

Your truck has no separate PCM, all the controls are contained in the ECU so ANY electrical glitch will throw dirty signals all over the place.

Thanks. Haven't really got a chance to mess with it yet. But the head light on the driver side works half the time you can be driving down the road and hit a bump and it will go off then come back on. The radio does the same thing but doesn't go off some of the speakers will just take turns. If its injectors shouldn't it be throwing a code for them? I'm taking it to a shop Friday to have it checked out. I'm hoping its just a bad ground some where causing all of it

Also forgot to add the truck only cuts out on idle down in park or nuetral. I don't notice it missing or surging at all while driving down the road. I sped up to 65mph yesterday and let off the throttle and its came down smooth

did you try any of the things that the guys said above.
To my knowledge the ECM cannot determine if an injector is bad. it only knows what the fuel rail pressure is and opens the FCA valve to control it.

Unhooked the fan and it still has the same issues also cranked about 20 times before it fired just a min ago
