No throttle response after ECM swap!???
I have a 2004.5 dodge cummins 3500. build date 7-04. the truck went down with a spun bearing. so I rebuilt the motor. Truck ended up needing an ECM (wouldn't run at all) I have an 05 ECM I put in the truck that I know is Good. It wont command the lift pump on the fuel filter housing so I fed 12v to it and the truck started but has no throttle response at all..?? I thought the 04.5 and 05 ECMs will interchange without issue.. The date on the ECM I installed is 10/04.

Needs to be flashed at the dealer!
|
I was thinking that but everywhere I read it said it was a direct swap and it would only need a reflash if it has the "chipped" key and mine dont.

Going to throw a couple hundred more at it and get it flashed. Hope it fixes my issues.

OOOOK!
I got the ECM reflashed to the VIN and now need to make the Engine mounted APPS work. I guess the 05 had the pedal mounted APPS. Need detailed help ASAP. Im really needing to get this truck going... Thanks for all the help guys! |
Yes, the 05's had an internal APPS. The wiring harnesses and communications are probably different between the two. Not sure it is possible without extraordinary measures to swap between versions like that. Whomever told you they were the same missed the boat.
