Bleeding Air From PS Pump on 2004

I just installed a new PS pump, and I have been trying to bleed the air from the lines for two hours now with no luck. Is there a certain procedure, or could it be a faulty pump?

With the engine off, tires off the ground, roll the wheel from left to right until it bleeds out, engine on and pump running will get air carried thru the system

Every time I changed one out I filled it ran it and checked the fluid level! Are you getting hard spots when turning or hitting the brakes? It's a self priming system no bleeding needed!

Self priming yes, self bleeding, not so much. You should always turn it lock to lock with engine off to get the air out, you have been lucky to not have any issue.

Probably because the system was already full I just changed the pump!

I have tried turning the wheel lock to lock with the tires off the ground. I tried it for about 30 minutes with the engine off, and its still stiff lock to lock, and the brakes will only press about 1" down.

There should be no more air, when the truck is on the pedal should drop a bit then push back. Is the hydroboost whining? I had to change my steer pump twice, the first one leaked right out the front seal.

There is no whining. I'm starting to think its a faulty pump. $350 for a pump, and still having problems.

Just a update. The pump was faulty. I got a new one from the stealership. The system is self priming, and I didn't have to bleed air from the lines. Thanks for the help.
