6.7 head on a 05 5.9 block?

So I'm a 6.0l psd guy but got a 05 cummins 3500 with 300,000km in the shop here for a head gasket. The truck was running well but showed signs of a headgasket failure. Once we removed the head the owner took the head down to a machine shop and have the fire rings installed and checked. The machine shop called us and said the head we brought him was a 6.7 head! OK, a vin search from Chrysler revealed (vaguely) the engine was replaced at 150,000 km in 2008 and 6 new injectors were installed. The machine shop sent us back a head from a 5.9l. We installed the supplied head and the truck runs like crap, I can go into detail of someone wants to know. We are pretty sure the block is a 5.9l and will verify that. I'm wondering if this is common for the swapping of heads or injectors and if this is possible to just swap the injectors or get some performance ones. Or will it be an issue of coding the injectors to ecm? If someone wants to chime in I can give you any technical info you need. Thanks. Haven't seen any threads swapping heads excpet for 5.9 head on a 6.7 block I've heard thats possible with correct injectors.
