Engine was changed

Hello again,

On my last post I was asking for help on a smoking problem. Well I took it back to the shop that replaced the injectors to see if we still had a problem with them. He called back today and said he talked to the company he ordered them from. They ordered the injectors off of the truck's VIN #, so they asked him to get the serial # off of the engine and it is out of an 03, and my truck is an early 04. they are saying that the injectors they put in are for the higher h.p. truck. They have reordered the right parts for this engine and they will be here Monday. My question is, are there any differences in the computer settings? Will this computer system work with the 03 engine? Just trying to get it to stop smoking. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!!

The 03 and early 04 engines were exactly the same, no differences in injectors. The break in injector spray angles and changes that cause smoke is mid MY04, that is Jan 04 and later are the 325\600 engines. Prior to that build date they were 235 or 250 or 305 but used the same injectors, only difference was programming.

Thanks for the reply. If they somehow put the 04.5 injectors in, would they fit, and would that cause the smoking problem? Thanks for the help.

Yes, 124 degree injectors on a re-entrant piston will smoke. Badly.

Thanks, I hope thats all it is, it has been at the shop more than I've had it.
