Transmission comes hard out of park.
 

Hey guys so I have a dodge ram 2500 with the automatic transmission. When its in park and I pull it out of park its really stiff and takes extra force to get it out. I tried putting the E brake on and turning it off to see if that would help but it didn't. The guy who had it before me installed a quadzilla adrenaline, which on stage 10 adds like 160 hp. So I Hope he put in an aftermarket tranny or at least some upgraded parts. Is this stiffness common with aftermarket trans? He also put in an S&B intake and elbow, as well as a 4 in mbrp exhaust. Is there anyway to tell if the tranny is an aftermarket one? I know I'm asking a lot of questions but any help would be very much appreciated Thanks for your time.

Hard shift from park is caused by load on the park pall. Like on a down or up hill or tire pushed up on a curb. If your on level ground and it's doing that then maybe the park rod got bent or distorted on the end by a previous oops like throwing it into park while still moving. Only way to tell if any upgrades were done to the tranny is to take it apart. To get the park rod out you have to drop the valve body so if you have to go in anyway time to buy some parts!

No just hard to get out of Park!

Park rod is not going to bend. Throwing it into park while moving just breaks the pawl and doesn't bother the rod.

The typical problem with hard out of park is the VB wears where the dentent ball is and jams tring to take it out. There are fixes from Sonnax and TransGo the excessive wear on the VB and the jamming in park.

The other issue is the brake interlock under the steering column gets dirty and sticky and doesn't release correctly. Emergency brake will do nothing, you have to step down firmly on the service brake and wait a slow 1 count for the interlock to disengage if it will.
