Lots of white smoke but no power loss

Just bought a 04 5.9 with 160thou. When I first drove the truck had no smoke what so ever I paid a guy to drive the truck to my house the next day I get in it for the first time since the test drive and I'm getting a pretty good amount white smoke from under the hood and out of the oil fill cap. I practically stole the truck so I expected to put some $ in to it. Can anyone tell me what looking at as far as cost for putting in new rings. Or should I start somewhere else ?

between 5-10k if you have someone do it. If you do it about 4k That is a rebuild complete

I can't beleave how good it runs considering the amount of blow by. Hope it holds together a bit longer.

It will last a long time BUT the broken ring is grooving the cylinder! So you will need.020 over pistons at a minimum!

Whos got the best bang for the buck on rebuild kits ? I got a friend with a diesel shop that's going to help me out on labor cost in exchange for me helping him do the rebuild.

Ask your diesel shop guy to get a quote! Also Ebay has some good kits!
