need some advice...again

ok yesturday i was under my truck and i saw my oil pan is about to rust through, i poked 1 spot and fiured i should stop, found a oem with gasket and new bolt on e bay for 480.00, alot less than my dealership. Now i know i am going to have to take out the motor mt bolts, take the bolts out of the fan shroud and un hook the intake tube, is there anything else?It dosn't look overly complicated just alot of work, any of you guys got any advice?
2nd question : i found a shop a couple towns over that works on diesels, from what i have heard they do good work, reasonably priced. I call about putting a fass 150 in, they gave a really good quote, about 175.00 to install. I said cool thats good considering you have to drop the tank, he says he dosn't drop the tank the way he does it, and i don't think he removes the bed either. Can this be done? I am not doubting the guy, i just don't know and i want it done right. Any thoughts? thanks:humm:

WOW Never heard of an oil pan rusting thru! It's an 07? Do you park it in the ocean?Clean it put some rust converter on it then some JB weld prime and paint much easier than changing the pan!
As far as the tank maybe he's putting a sump in the bottom ask! Otherwise you have to drop the tank to put the draw straw in and disconnect the factory lines

I think it's beyond help , the hole sump area on the passenger side is bad. The worst spot is about the size of a 50 cent peice, took my thumb nail to it and a big hunk came off, i know pans are not very thick and i think i got 2/3's of to come off. This is gonna suck. I don't think i have to remove the fan, just unhook the shrouds? I searched the issue and it seems to fairly common on trucks in the north east. Some dude said his rotted out at 70,000. Dodge ate that one. I don't anna do it but i don't want it go while i'm driving along and waste a motor.

Buy the parts for worst case and then hit it with a hammer if it holds up take a wire wheel to it if you break through you have the parts BUT if you don't then seal it and it should be good forever or until you sell it! Is it a 4x4? I dropped the pan on a 2x4 by just removing the motor mount bolts and lifting the engine.

yep its a 4x4, i had an school mechanic at worlk, he's seen alot of over the road stuff , he said the same thing, i just have a hard time knowing that if it goes its going to most likely take a very expensive motor with it. To make things worse i stopped by the dealer for sh$ts and giggles to see what they said, they told me no warrenty, no recall its my tough luck. I said its f in ridiculous, a truck with 117,000 miles has an oil pan rusting out on a cummins. I drove a KW with a cummins and 750,000 miles and it's oil pan was fine. they said 9 hrs at 90.00$ an hour. no thanks:scare2::moon::moon:
