pretty much a proven fact that if ur not wanting to get into the tranny than smarty is the way to go being that its programmed just for our motors an drive train for power and safety... go on both of their websites and see what they say about them... i believe the efi live is an awesome tuner but with alot of extra mods in addition... hope this helps

EFI live is by far the best thing you can do, both programmers do something with the transmission but the benefit to the EFI live is that it is a custom tune for your truck. Because believe it or not, our trucks are not equal. So you can get the power they way you want it the downside is you need someone to make that tune for you, and it cost about 100 dollars a tune. The smarty has preset tunes for your truck, but its cost 600 bucks up front and you never have to buy a tune again, but you still have to stop the truck and confiqure your ECM, and PCM... Its what your willing to spend, but here is my one and only warning to you... DO not misuse the smarty and "Roal coal" every where you go, because these trucks have a Double Pulse injection system and you can push carbon into you injector, and also be like my friend and wash out cylinders from overfueling, to me no smoke = more power and more efficient.

Efi= Tailored Suit with hundreds and hundreds of parameters that can be adapted to your mods, driving style and specifically changeable for your truck.

Smarty= off the rack standard tune with a few variables that you have to tune

Smarty UDC= great for 03-05. similar to efi live, but not on the same level.

so here’s my dilemma on the EFI, i live in Abilene TX, the closest dyno is in Dallas (4hrs ish) i am afraid that if i get the EFI that i will want to "tweak" the settings all the time and won’t have that ability

you can data log and get a good amount of info. A dyno would be nice, but you can still do a lot of tuning with data logging.
