Rear End Issues? :(

Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum, just bought this 2006 2500. Anyways, the other day I put it in reverse and as I was tapping the brakes it felt as if the drive line was loose and sloppy. I didn't think much of it at that point and continued to make the trip from PA to GA and it's still doing it, had the wife shift through the gears from park to reverse, reverse to drive, back to reverse, etc and the drive shaft turns with the gear changes and it seems like it's binding up and kind of grinds a little bit then locks into gear. My first thought was it's probably a U-Joint, so I replaced that today and it's still doing the same thing, no changes at all. Just wondering if anyone has had any issue like this before? Or rebuilt/replaced the rear end in their truck? Looking for any sort of advice.

Thanks in advance.

Auto or stick? Explain the grind.

It's an auto. I had it checked out today, it sounded like a light grinding noise coming from inside of the front of the diff (toward the front of the truck) but the local transmission shop checked it out today and said everything was fine, they drove it, ran it up, listened to everything with a stethoscope and said everything was fine and the only thing they noticed was that the rear shocks are shot. I feel pretty stupid for not seeing that sooner as I am pretty mechanically inclined. At least it's weight of my shoulders now. :jump:
