Grid Heater Issues - Any Ideas?

Anyone have any ideas on why my grid heater light stays on?

After the first bout of this, the light went out on my rig for about three weeks, then came back on. I haven't been to the dealership yet, been avoiding the expense. It seems to have less power when the light is on, but the grid heater seems to be working normally...I can hear it come on and shut off and see the drawdown on the lights/battery when it cycles. Otherwise I don't notice any difference in my rigs performance while the light is on.

I'm gonna be pulling a 23 foot trailer soon, and I'm kinda worried about this issue being a problem on my trip. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. It's a 2006, 5.9 liter 3500 dodge diesel.

Thanks,
Jenn

I believe there's a fuse for this check your manual and try replacing it and also checking connections on grid heater itself.

Okay, I'll check it out. Sure be great if it's just a fuse!

I may of read somewhere it could also be an ecm issue or something to that effect. May be wrong.

Checked the fuses, and they all seemed fine. I just cleaned the relay (solenoid) as the mounting bracket area was a bit corroded, so time will tell if cleaning the corrosion helped.

The ECM was replaced on March 18th, with the recent replacement, the ECM should be up to-date and not need re-programming....at least it shouldn't, right? I've heard it could need to be reflashed....something to do with faulty program or something. Not sure.

My number 5 injector is functioning at 94%, but the rest are functioning at 100%. I've read some posts on forums mentioning injector issues causing the grid heater icon to stay on...doesn't seem like one slightly low functioning injector is causing my issue, but I could be wrong.

Pretty confusing. :argh::ouch::humm:
