48re 2ng gear engagement arm broken
 

Hey guys, I'm having a little problem with my 06. It has a bilstein Tranny that's out of warranty. One day when driving it I completely lost second gear. Never slipped, just gone. Pulled the pan and found two pieces sitting in the pan. Looks like the arm that transfers the servo motion to the second gear band is broken, it broke right where the shaft goes through it on its pivot point. Fluid is good, no clutch material in pan, minimal stuff stuck to the magnet, hardly any. So all I want to do is replace this arm. I've rebuilt a couple transmissions but have no experience on the inside of these. What will I need to do to replace the arm and what is it called so I can order one?

Yes you have to remove the tranny to replace it but it's a good time to inspect the clutch packs, TQ, Pump, Shafts Etc etc.....

I did a 2nd gear band, band lever, strut, and anchor about 3 months ago, took 4 hours... give these guys a call PATC 46RE 47RE 48RE Transmissions, Performance Transmission A518, 518
They will get you everything you need and it really isn't too hard to do the work yourself. Tranny needs to come out, so does the VB, and obviously the pump will have to come off the front of the transmission. .... don't get intimidated! it really isn't hard just make sure you use a torque wrench
