Hey guys im in the market for a newer cummins, i found a 2005 2500 4x4 on criaigslist for 12k its a single cab long bed base model steel wheels cloth seats truck has a little over 200k had a newer trans put in 40k ago truck has been sitting for a year.. seems like a pretty good deal to me fig id beat him up on the price some... was wondering what these newer truck are selling for.. these newer truck rarley come up for sale around were im from even from the dealer.. is there any thing specific i should be worried about with these truck? or any thing in particular i should as about or look for when im there negotiating??

No nothing to huge over 200 K and they want 12K for it and its a single cab more like 8 or 9K for the price. Just make sure their no big blow by issues, and check out the front end and get the paper work for the tranny,

It's always possible to get a faulty part, seperating the steering from the gear box is the quickest and easiest way to determine which part is the problem.



This is a somewhat unusual issue for a worn steering gear, normally as they wear they become sloppy, not tighter. You might also want to try popping the steering stabilizer off and driving it, I've yet to see one cause memory steer, but it's possible.
