Odd Howling Noise
Hello everyone, i seem to hear a odd noise that appears at around 30mph like a whoo whoo whoo whoooo. Even after i hit 65-70 it is consistant and after i let off the pedal it goes away seems to be coming from rearend i had the truck to the shop but they said they could not hear it but i guess they dont drive the truck to hear odd noises that were not there before. It may not be a very good description on what is going on.

Tires can do that after wearing down a bit!

replaced tires
replace tires and still here the noise, it will start out like woo woo wooo at just below 30 mph and get louder like wooooooooooooo for a second then goes away. I can still here it as i reach higher speeds but it seams at 65 to 70 it feels like it drags truck down. and makes the same kind of noise

rear end may be going.

rearend
What would be the best rebuild kit if one were to go that route?

Odd Noise?
Have you checked your U-Joints? I had a similar noise and checked my U-Joints on my driveshaft. The rear was completely seized and the front was about gone. They are fairly easy to replace if you use a ball joint press to remove the seized up U-Joint.

I have the same problem on my dually i seem to get the noise at around 1.5 rpms pretty sure it's the rear end getting play in it from heavy hauling.
|
I had a similar noise that turned out to be u-joints. Couldn't feel any slack at all in them, but once i unhooked the driveline it was easy to see the problem...
|
Im sure hoping its the u-joints could be possible, i crawled under the truck over the weekend and i could not feel and slack in them, but if you had similar problem it may also be the case here.
|
Every case is different, and every u-joint i have lost up to this point got loose, but the factory ones got EXTREMELY tight on me....pretty easy fix-good luck!
