Exhaust size??

So I hear size DOES matter.....I'm having mine redone, should I go with 4" or 5"? Does it really matter??

MillerBoyzDiesel 04-30-2013 08:52 AM

Stock is 4". 5" isn't needed until youre up high in hp.

BigRed2500 04-30-2013 09:28 AM

I have a 5" turbo back dual exhaust straight piped and it scares people. So id say go with 5..it sounds awsome

skoog_3451 04-30-2013 11:09 PM

I have 4" straight pipe I wish it scared people! Its loud but not over kill

crazyrocks 05-20-2013 11:11 PM

Sawzall!!

I always say why buy twice?
Get what will last until the end of your build or get what will get you by for free... like a sawzall!!

all kidding aside a muffler delete or a high flow 4" muffler will move all the air you need (for now) and it's cheaper than a full system...

minncountryboy 05-20-2013 11:38 PM

Our stock 4" exhaust without the cat and muffler will move all there air just fine but sound wise i like 5 inch.. when I redo mine ill he goin with mbrp 5inch turbo back TD series in stainless with their muffler but that's cause I love the sound of 5 inch and and I think the TD series just looks badarse!

crazyrocks 05-21-2013 12:13 AM

I agree. I purchased a stainless 5" MBRP down pipe back exhaust system instead of sticking with the 4". When I got it the only thing I did was add the muffler a month later. I kept my outlet behind my back tire but I wanted just a little more baffling for those long Highway rides so I traded my straight pipe for their 5" center flow muffler.

Looks and sounds great!!

So mbrps muffle for their 5 inch still sounds awsome?? Cause thats my only worry.. o still want it to sound badass and amazing but keep the drone down a tad for long trips

ColinHartwick 05-22-2013 09:24 AM

I know a guy with 4" down pipe to 5" straight with 8" tip and it loud and sounds really good

Al31031 05-22-2013 11:05 AM

I have a 4in down pipe to 5in all the way out to a 7in tip it sounds amazing. Went from a 12v that sounded awesome with 4in all the way back and was sceptical when i bought the 24v that it wasnt gonna sound as good, boy was i wrong the 5in sounds like a 10 wheeler lol

Please ignore the fact that I am blowing smoke everywhere.. the first video's were right after I got a new tune and hadn't adjusted the boost and the third one is during tuning and while testing a transbrake.

I have a 4" turbo back straight piped that's dualed out with 7" tips and it sounds badass! Had a lot of compliments on it and people definately hear me coming down the road

#cummapart 09-23-2013 11:26 AM

I went with a 4" all the way back with an 8" tip. Sounds great! The 2003-2004 stock exhaust is actually 3.5" from turbo to muffler and 4" from muffler to tip.

ROCKITV8 11-19-2013 05:15 PM

I have the Diamond Eye 5" from the turbo back with a muffler and 6" tip. Sounds just right, but even for the upgrades I have I think the 4" would of been a little better on my city MPG but towing our 31' camper the 5" works better for that.
