highest egt's it has seen since I rebuilt the motor is 1100deg.
I was just going to ask if I could remove the converter bolts and start the motor. |
Did it all the time when I worked at the dealership
Do you have the stock Flexplate or a billet? |
good glad to hear I can do that, that will at least eliminate or narrow it down. I have a stock flex plate, I have plans on a complete transmission rebuild in the future, I will have goerend brothers do it, their shop is only 12 miles from me, and I have been using them for years. But first I have to save up some money I did not plan on rebuilding the engine 5 months ago.

Finely got around to check on my truck today. I took all the torque converter bolts and started it. I don't think I hear the noise anymore. Also as I move the torque converter back and forth I hear a clunking sound, I don't think that is normal??? Back to my first post where I said I found bits of metal in the oil filter when I cut it apart, might be from me cutting it open, I would of thought if there had been metal in the filter I would of shown on the oil test.

Check the flex plate for cracks.
|
I looked it over as best I could. Put all the bolts back in, now the noise is gone. I am baffled.
|
were all the bolts tight when you took them out of the torque converter?:w2:
|
yes all bolts tight. what is the best or easy way to check the flex plate for cracks, with out taking it out.
