Trans temp?

I no my fan clutch is bad but my Trans temp goes up when I'm sittin at a stand still while in gear, is there any way that could be linked to the fan clutch? It hasn't got above 200* but that is 20* hotter then normal

I have a early 04 3500
Please help me out with this thank you

That likely contributes to the additional heat. Did your coolant temp also go up?

Yes my coolent temp went up, I put the new fan clutch on today but neither the Trans temp or coolent temp went down like I thought it would, today while drivin it sround during rush hour my coolent temp was at 190 and my Trans went between 183-195 I no that doesn't sound high but its like 20* hight then it used to be, any ideas?

Where is your temp censor located at, pan or inline?

JLWelding's got a point there as well. How long has your thermostat been in? You may need to address that, as well as a coolant change. However, those temps arent bad. My truck runs at 197* empty, and steady at 205* when pulling my 31' travel trailer @ right about 9200 pounds, at 65 mph. I have an auxilliary trans cooler that keeps my trans temp @ 140ish* empty, and just under 180* pulling my trailer....in summer. I have an electric fan mounted to my aux trans cooler in case temps increase while going up steep grades or mountain passes, with my trailer. I changed my t-stat once 3 years ago just for peace of mind. Gonna do it again this summer wheather it needs it or not.....just for peace of mind. Just another option bro.

Bigg Redd, where is your temp sensor located? Reason I ask is I have only had mine for 4 months and don't really know what it runs at mine is in the pan. I drive my 01 mostly and haven't hauled much with the auto.

My temp sensor is located in one of the test ports, just behind the bell housing, at the passenger side of the transmission. Its been there for years with no issues. The trans pan is also an option, if your trans pan has a 1/8" npt bung. Personally i prefer the test port at the trans.

My Trans temp sensor is on my edge Cts so where ever that runs off of is that accurate?

Trans temp goes up at a stand still due to no air movement around the truck. As soon as you start moving the temps will drop. Your trans fluid goes thru a heat exchanger on the engine and then to the cooler by the radiator. Running an aux cooler with a fan is a good idea to deal with heat build up and towing. Turn your A/c on and see if the fan kicks on.
