Fan Clutch question
I'm just wondering what fan clutch you guys are going with? My truck threw a code last week for the cooling fan clutch, so I'm just wondering what you guys think is the best one out there for the price. Autozone is 214.00 bucks, but I'm just wanting see if there is a better brand out there and I'm willing to wait for it to show up because with the fuel prices now days, it just sits unless we are going riding or camping and pulling the big trailer. Just want to be ready for the summer time heat and keep her cool! Thanks in advance!

Do you have a part number? That will make it easier to find on the web. IMO the best price is going to be on the web. However, the web price and the store price may not be too far apart.
As far as brand, I would try to stay OEM but not pay OEM price. Look on ebay, may be able to find a used one or a new one. |
The autozone part number is 922510, but I'm not sure if there would other part numbers for it.

Ive got a used one off my truck from when I put electric fans on. Shoot me a pm if you are interested.

How much were the electric ones to put on and how labor intensive was it? Also how much do you want for that used on and how old is it?

$1000 for dual fan set up. First thing I added when I bought my 2007
|
Holy smokes that's a lot of money! What benefits do you get out of the electric system over the clutch style system? That's twice as much as I could pay someone to change mine out.

My fan set up was $560 from flexilite I just like that I can run them with the truck off to keep under hood temps from heat soaking. Took me about an hour to put them in.

Thanks guys for the input! How hard of a job are both applications? Stock fan clutch and electric setup?
|
Not bad. Just need a fan clutch wrench and some sockets to take the shroud off. Get your hands on a pneumatic fan clutch set for an air hammer and it makes it gravy to get the nut loose.
