Default Engine Stalling

I have a 2006 cummins 2500, smarty, volant cai, and no muffler other than that its stock. It will start just fine plugged in or not but after idling for 5 to 7 minutes it will just shut off like you shut the key off and it would throw the code p 2509 but yet start right back up. first thing i did was cleaned grounds and battery conections, it still did it, i went and bought brand new batterys, it still did it. then i updated my smarty to the newest software and now it still dies but doesnt throw any codes. when it first started getting cold out this fall is when i started having this problem. the truck runs just fine over 25F and dies more and more the colder it is outside. ive been running straight #2 so i thought it was maybe the fca but i havnt done it yet. If anyone can help thank you before hand.

When my FCA went truck wouldn't die. It would almost die and then throttle back up to normal RPMs.

I've been reading about the 2509 code. Could be alt, bad ground, or bad connection to ECU? Most people say it has to do with bad batteries. Let me know what you find.

thanks for helping me out i have done both batterys and all the grounds i can find. i dont really know how to check connections to the ecu, i ohm tested the power supplies to the battery and the grounds to the block and everything was good. another thing that confuses me is why does it only do it when its cold? if it was a connection problem y would it only do it when its cold?

Try removing the smarty and see if anything changes. Just tossing it out there bro.

When its cold the connection may be contracting and when the engine warms up the connection could be expanding. I had a simular issue on a motorcycle before.
I would suggest pulling the wire harness off the ECM and see everything looks okay.

Based on the code description I would have to think your problem has to do with the power to the ECM.

POOR CONNECTIONS AT THE BATTERIES
LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE
OPEN FUSED B+ TO ECM
OPEN GROUND CIRCUIT
BATTERY + SHORTED TO OTHER CIRCUITS
RETURN CIRCUIT SHORTED
BATTERY + SHORTED TO GROUND

There is a TSB on this 18-001-07
