48re no reverse

Changed fluid-filter. New solonoid and transducer. Would not shift to 1st gear at stop but this solved problem bu made band adjustments by the book but now no reverse. Backed lift of shop in reverse. 1/2 mile later felt like downshift but quit then 5 miles down road small noise but quit in a few seconds. Now no reverse. What happened?

Dropped the pan and nothing in the pan but burnt fluid. Really dark. A couple of slivers of something about the width of a toothpick and 3/8 inches long. Not metal though. Anchor strut and the band still in place.

Can band be replaced without dropping trans?

Already burnt is really bad for under a thousand miles or even less?? Tranny has to be dropped to change band out! I would call Goerend transmission and discuss this with craig or Dave! They are the best for customer service!
