At a loss

New to the forum. Kudos to the ones who work behind the scenes.

So I'm changing my tranny fluid today and had a part fall out. I've looked and looked for what it may be but to no avail. I'm quite certain it's a fluid valve..but there is absolutely no change in operation. I have however noticed a slight knocking that I feel and hear when the clutch is halfway disengaged. I'm at a loss. G56 tranny. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx Bob.

Looks like a syncro for the shifter. there should be a spring in there somewhere! It's kind of like the little ball on a ratchet that keeps the socket from falling off. This just keeps it in gear. Your so lucky that didn't fall into a gear! Boom would be an understatement!
Now how it came out is the question!! If it stays in all the gears and doesn't pop out just run it How did you get it out the drain hole? Did you run a magnet probe in it?

It came out with the fluid..freaky huh? But after that I did take the side plate off to verify no other debri.. No spring was found. And no change in operation. Shifts better than ever, and dose not fall out of gear. I guess it could be 1st gear..I never use it. Thanks for the info.
