heating oil as fuel
ok so ive seen this post in the 1st gen area and ive googled the heck out of it, here is the deal i have a 05 5.9 and im wondering if i can run brand new out of the pump #2 home heating oil instead of diesel its cheaper up here in alaska then deisel and just as easy to get i have no cat and 4 inch straight pipe and the heating oil isnt dyed up here and i dont much care about the off road or on road use tax crap cause it a crack of bs as far as i care, so legal stuff doesnt matter to me any input would be alot of help
ps have a friend in fairbanks that has been running this for about 5 months in his 07 5.9 and he says he is getting better mpg and the truck seems to run smoother all around thank ahead of time for any input given |
Well heating oil is close to what lsd was, shouldnt be an issue what so ever. i'd just stray on the cautionary side and run an ounce to a gallon mix of tcw3 2 stroke oil like i do with regular diesel.

i was more thinking along the lines of any long term effects to the engine or fuel system and also is it usable in the winter here as well it can get as low as -30 here in anchorage ad the surrounding area

here is a link that might interest you. I would think it would be fine if you run power service type of product or some anti gel additive. I run red diesel in my tractor, even in the cold.
