question on oil filter change

changed the oil in my truck this weekend and when i was taking off the oil filter it over flowed? happened the last oil change to? never has happened on my other truck so i was wondering if its something i need to look into fixing.

How much flowed over? Oil will be trapped in the filter base, and when the filter is removed gravity will do its thing. What was your other truck?

I've had some keep oil all the way to the top, and some that didn't. It's nothing to worry about

If you wait till the oil stops draining from the pan and then pull the filter off 99 percent of the time it wont overflow out of it. Ive also found out a cup on the four wheel drive trucks make it a hell of a lot easier than going from the top.

Its happens on one 4BT Cummins I have on the ranch, I use napa filters to.
