Surging RPM's

:hellox: everyone, The problem im having is that when my truck gets in to overdrive the rpm's start going up and it only goes up 1000 and then comes back down to where it should be and when it does this it feels like it loses power for a second and that is with the cruise on or off... please help, thank you

Is the true rpm changing or just the tach?

lines24v 07-09-2012 05:09 PM

when the tach moves up it feels like it loses power for a second then it goes to normal

Id say the crank sensor is bad. Thats where your tach reads from on your year

Converter locking and unlocking is what it sounds like to me.

Scott would there be check engine be on and empty wallet how hard is that to change and thats what my bro thought it could be until i found a bad vaccum line so i thought it has that cuz my air only comes out the defrost

There should be with a cam or crank sensor. A few other things to check is all the grounds on the truck. If they are not making a good connection they can cause a interference for the pcm causing a hunt or surge. Also reset the apps sensor and maybe invest or build a apps noise isolator.
