Cab Swapping

Im in the process of swapping an 01 CTD Cab (rusted out) and putting a 98 1/2 ton cab (just sitting rust free) on my 01. I know the gauge cluster and wire harness have to be swapped, but what about the harness that runs down the frame and plugs in under the rear of drivers side fender? I noticed the 98 has 2 plugs and 01 CTD has one big connector. I know the power brakes and such have to be swapped and so forth. Also, the fuse box (under hood) will still work with 1/2 ton in cab fuse panel, correct? The 2 connectors from the harness will just plug in and everything work off the 1/2 ton dash (after gauge cluster swap of course). Only concern was the dash differences such as head light switch and airbag on/off control.

Thanks for any imput

Wow, this is sounding like a project and a half. I assume the 1/2 ton cab is free? Might not hurt to look into the cost of a cab that will be a direct replacement. Just for the dash, I doubt the 1/2 ton harness will have a wait to start light in it. I have a feeling you may have to completely strip both cabs and swap everything, might just be easier.

1/2 ton has kinna went to :edit: over the years and has been sitting engine/trans free, cab is still I'm good condition and my 3/4 ton is rusted to :edit: (doors front and back, fenders, rockers, bed, etc.) was gonna make good use of it so the 1/2 ton is stripped except the dash and ready, I just started on the ctd the other night so half the front clip has been removed.

Brain fart, wire harness on the frame wont matter at all, im still using all CTD wire harness's

Had a real easy way of swapping cabs once I gave in and decided I would trust this way of hooking on to it without damaging anything, work real slick, the incline of the driveway was a pain though.

Started the morning off

Got the cab off

Pressure washed and frame painted

So, ive got the engine compartment all together, now I'm curious about the interior, would it be possible to unhook a few clips (electrical plugs) and remove the whole dash as an assembly? My 01 (ctd) dash is in a lot better shape and I like it more than the 98, another question, what is the legal answers to the back door vehicle id sticker missing?
