2001 Gas tank removal help

Okay, I am suffering from the 1/4 tank issue :(
I have the tank about ready to drop, but am having trouble with removal of the two lines.
(3/4 ton, Lift pump on block, all standard stuff)

Can I drop the tank a few inches to get at the connections better?
Do I need a special tool to remove the couplings?

Any suggestions would be welcome, Thanks

Rob

Yes, I studied your article, it was a great help, Thanks for your time.
I have the tank out, I was able to lower it a couple of inches and then I could get the line off.

the sending unit was bad, so off to the dealers...
Thanks

Easy on the dealership! There may be better options for less money. This comes with the larger lines in it already. If you are planning on more power, or if it is cheaper, this may be the way to go:

Modified liberty fuel module

I replaced my sending unit when i did the drawstraw,i think it was like 30 something dollars and not hard to change

There must be a lot of different units in these tanks. My tank issue was just the sending unit.
$75 for a new one. There are some on ebay, 3 differant sending units at $95 The straw looked fine.
