speedo problem 01 cummins

where is the transmission speed sensor on a 01 cummins or what makes the speedo work?

There is a sensor in the rear differential that sends the speed signal.

I've changed them on both 24v I've owned. But once I had my brakes get low and the abs light came on and it quit working? I fixed the brakes and it worked again. Not sure how but it is what it is.

My abs light is also on

If it were me I would order the sensor they are thirty bucks or so, then check other stuff they are a common problem. Also had the wire coming out of the plug lose the connection once.

I pulled mine just a little while ago and went to price them online and it looks different mine is a cylinder connected to a plug and there is small copper wire wrapped around the cylinder. All the pictures online have a case over that. My question is. Does that case just serve as protection till you put it in the truck or is the other half of mine still shoved in the rear end.
