Default New Truck

My neighbor is trying to sell his cummins before he goes off to the marines. Its a 2001 dodge cummins with 238k on it. Rear end and tranny were rebuilt at 215k. Has banks intake and banks tuner in it. He is only asking 6500. Is this a good deal or are there other potential problems i should look for?

Thats not too bad of a price for the mileage, and depending on the body condition. Id check the front end out, and if he is running a tuner make sure he has some sort of upgraded lift pump or the Injection pump might need some attention in the near future

thanks. well it turns out its an edge programmer with an attitude tuner. high ram intake, brakes tie rods and ball joints were all just done. I just dont wanna run into any major problems since i need to pull a trailer to deliver firewood and cant have any huge mechanical breakdowns

If he has a tuner on it and did not change the stock lift pump then I would figure on at least investing the $600 in one... Just figure that into the price and negotiate from there...

Yep, a fuel pressure gauge and upgraded lift pump is a must. Even on a bone stock truck. A $500-$600 investment can save $1000+ and downtime later on.
