Make sure you use a QUALITY filter guys. Dont sacrifice an engine rebuild because you saved $3 on an oil filter. Same goes for other parts like Thermostats etc. Get genuine Cummins parts.

There is good oil change info for newbies here:

Oil & Filter Change on Ram/Cummins

Theres nothing magical about changing oil in a Cummins just more oil and a bigger filter than on a car....everything else is the same basically.

Yup, to be on the safe side, buy all your supplies at the stealership.

That's why I listed Fleetguard as the bestDo as I say, not as I do, my truck's way out of warranty

No buy your parts from Cummins or a Cummins dealer. Much cheaper than a Dodge Dealership.

Because you are out of warranty - using the best parts is that much more important. Using an oil filter that could come apart when you are off warranty isnt really the smartest thing in my opinion.

I have a friend that took and put a 2 micron fuel filter inline for his duramax, considering splicing one inline before my raptor

Personally, I would put the 2 micron post raptor..not before. That is a tight filter for the pump to suck through. I know it can be done but your better bet is to run it post filter. The Cat 1r0750 (and 749), two of the most popular 2 micron applications, are designed to be secondary post lift/supply pump filters mounted between the fuel pump and injection pump.

Good set up IMHO is a baldwin BF1212 (or cross reference) (20 micron water separator, designed to be on the suction side of a pump)-> raptor/fuel pump-> 2 micron (or whatever secondary filter)-> injection pump.

By the by where are you in Mass?
