Lift pump
1/4 tank pressure drop or running out of fuel is caused by the 100gph pump pulling fuel out of the basket so fast that when tank level is below a quarter you're relying on return fuel and what comes up thru the bottom of the basket screen and it can't keep up with demand. That's why people install sumps or draw straws. I say run the DS-II it's so easy to install. Dropping the tank is not hard.
Vulcan makes it... I have no experience with any of the newer drawstraws like the 5 but you can do some shopping around and compare them, ask some vendors or something. Lots of helpful people here.

The Drawstraw II is exactly what it sounds like, a "straw" and bypasses the fuel sending unit's basket all together, you only use it for fuel level gauge and return. I believe the 5 is an entire sending unit assembly? Not 100% I've never installed one.

I have no issues with 1/4 tank with my fass system pulling out of the stock basket. hell I made 683 hp this way I just put 28 gallons in my tank today still pushing 20psi of fuel when I stopped.
1/4 tank issues is mostly related to running a simple pick up pipe without a basket. Any quick cornering, stopping, or accelerating will slosh the fuel, and fuel will not be available at the pick up. The AirDog comes with a fuel basket upgrade, but then you are dropping the tank or pulling the box off. As long as your return fuel is still dropping into the fuel basket you shouldn't experience the 1/4 tanks issue.

Ok thank you what is the reasoning for having to drop
The tank just not enough room to mount it I don't really understand ? What would you do of you were in my
Position I'm pretty new in the diesel world since I'm only 16 but I love them and want to know a lot more

I'd go to this site:
Ram Diesel Index
and explore as much as you can stand. There are a lot of basic answers and information in there.
Dropping the tank or pulling the box is to remove the fuel basket. If you intend to modify it, one or the other has to happen. Personally, I pull the box. I find it much easier. If you don't need to modify the basket, there is enough room to get the hoses on and off. It's tight, and can be frustrating.

as long as you don't have an in tank pump you can install the raptor airdog or fass without having to drop the tank or bull the bed. the hardest part of the job is getting the factory fuel supply line off.
ok guys im at a loss here. i have a 04 with the intank option. im pretty sure it was redone from a dealer because theres extra wiring under my hood and if i pull the fuse from it my truck will die in about 1-2 mins. so here's my question. im buying a raptor 150 and dont want to install a sump nor a draw straw. is there any other way i can get around the 1/4 tank issue? i dont want to have to worry about my girlfriend driving my truck. and another thing im buyin this raptor used. so i need all my own hoses and fittings. whats all reccomended?
