ac fan

Hey Guys,
I was coming home yesterday and I smelled what smelled like wires burning. It lasted a couple minutes and quit. A little later I turned the fan up and got nothing until I turned it to full speed. All the lower setting quit. My fan has been squealing for a couple weeks. I pulled the controls and all the wiring looks good. The blower motor fuse is fine. I know I need to change the blower motor. How hard is that? And what else do you think would be bad? Would it be the resistor on the fan control? It is going to get hot again here in Florida at the end of the week. I need that ac fan working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Blower motor is very easy to change, 3 or 4 screws and one wire connector. The cause of only having Full speed is the resistor pack being failed. It is close to the blower motor, 2 screws hold it in, and about 5 wires going into it. When I bought my truck I had the same issue, only full speed. I was able to repair mine as just a solder broke free, and it's been working for 3 years now.

Thanks for the help. I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow.

How did it go? Were you able to check it out?

If the fan only works on high...blower motor resistor. $20+ at stealership.
