Removing the left headlamp lens
How hard is this operation? My left lens has a bunch of condensation in it and I would like to dry it out and see if I can seal up the leaky spot.
Anybody else do this? I searched and saw someone drilling it from underneath the bumper, but I have a big winch bumper. Any thoughts? Thanks, |
I have the same problem see what others have come up with.

I had one that was constantly getting wet. I'm talking like an inch of water when it rained kind of wet. Ended up being an improperly placed mesh sticker on the vent hole on the top of the assembly. I realigned the sticker, and held it in place with super glue.

What is the process to take the lens off the truck? I assume that is what you had to do?
Thanks! |
It shouldn't be to hard to remove the lens. But to me when you do that you just have more potential to create leaks. I have a big bumper on mine as well and drilled a small hole underneath the hosing to release the water. But you will probably need to replace the entire housing unless it is something you can fix like Ryan did....just my .02 cents :tu:

Thanks! I had trouble getting the replacement back in and didn't realize why until I did some adjustments on the other lens. I had smacked a deers behind a few years ago and that was why the lens was not very good anymore. It also bent the bumper which I had straightened but not completely perfect since it was tighter to the body than the other side. Tight enough it was a bit tough to get back in but it did go. With the proper gap I think it would slide in without issue. HTH. RR |
Thanks Russ; I will try that. I guess the front wheel well liner has to come out first?
|
Shouldn't have to. Before I put my aftermarket bumper on, I was able to swap both headlight assemblies without removing anything other then the lights. 3 screws per side, headlight and signal light connectors, then just hold your tongue right as you remove it.
|
Ok. So where is the screw located that holds the side-marker light?
Thanks, |
Not too sure about that one, I have never done it that way. I just removed 3 screws per side, and the whole assembly came out.
