My nv4500 just blew apart and it was just rebuilt about a year ago.(the first gear on the main shaft is chewed up and everything is loose). The first two times i had problems with the input shaft breaking until i got the upgrade and now its moved back to the tranny. I like to start out in third gear when at the drag strip or just messing around and i think this is going to be a continueing problem if i do so. My question is what routes can i take with building the nv4500 such as a straight gear for 3rd instead of a helical gear? i would like to stay with a manual.

I dont know what they make for the manual... hardened gears or what not... I DID want to go with a manual trans but with my power levels and goals plus the fact that i to drag race... EVERYONE told me that manual just wont hold together. Its so much more fun to bang gears but you could always get an auto and a full manual valve body! Hook that puppy to a ratchet and its just like a manual... Just NO clutch!
