Default Looking to get a different truck, want some opinions or info.

I currently have a 94 GMC K2500 with the 6.5 TD, its a single cab long bed. I found me a 01 Dodge 2500 SLT, it looks to be a very nice truck, I'd like to hear what you guys can share about the 01 models and the 24v. I don't know as much about the Cummins yet, so anything is appreciated.

Really nice truck.. definatly would try talking him down to 14k or so. Just make sure the Vp44 was replaced cause they like going around 150k. also sense it has a factory lift pump that should be replaced immediatly to ensure your injection pump and injectors last for a long time. its got some really nice 3rd gen rims on it though!

I have one, I love it They have down falls, but overall a very stout truck. Track bars wear out steering boxes have play factory ball joints,cv joints, tie rods don't have grease fittings. The dash is prone to crack. The Cummins is practicly bullet proof,The auto trans is not able to take a lot of horsepower/torque from a real modified 5.9. stock & not beating on it should be ok. If you buy it the first thing you do: Take the stock lift pump off & at a mininum a fass ddrp or just something better.Gauges are a must, fuel pressure exhaust temp boost transtemp. run a quality additive to lube the vp44 injector pump. This is what Ilearned from here hope this helps ,ILOVE MY CUMMINS!!!

Thanks!! I appreciate the feedback, the only trouble is the rig is a little over 200 miles from my location, but the local airlines at the airport I work at can get me there in one hour, i just hope i can get the truck, its a really nice rig. My 6.5 almost seems to be on borrowed time, the previous owners did not know what this thing called maintenance or preventive maintenance is. In the pics there is an Edge programmer on the pillar, I hope they've done some other upgrades to it as well other than just chipping it and calling it good.

That price is way too much. I bought mine 4 years ago with 80,000 miles for the same price and it is a sport package. Definitely go in there guns loaded with Kelly blue book and a nada guides print out. Also, check what block it has and make sure it is not leaking any fluid. Good luck, nice looking rig!

Pretty much bang on. The truck has some downfalls, but they all do. If you do it right, and at the right time, you'll have a very reliable and powerful rig!

As for the truck, I'd say $15,000 all in, final price.

If the truck were PERFECT with every option available, it would only "retail" for $14,798. Now that's in my area (AZ), which is priced similar to California (usually close to highest in country). Just my .02. Oh, and keep in mind that it has probably hauled a large 5th wheel and has been chipped. And finally...does it have a 53 block?

It's worth as much as someone is willing to pay, and it's as cheap as someone's willing to sell it for. Play hardball
