Engine stalls when shifting to reverse.

Sometime when shifting the truck from park or neutral to reverse the engine makes a large surge. You need to push on the brake because the truck wants to go. Most times it stalls out. After two or three time it is okay for a few days. Any ideas what is causing this? I never had this problem with the factory tranny. I have upgraded to BD Power tranny. This problem did not happen for some time after the swap. :humm:

torque converter is my guess. my buddy had a ats tripple disc and until it would warm up his did that so he went to a single disc and solved that problem.

i would say, the torque converter is on her last leg.. maybe time to upgrade??

The torque converter is to tight.Who ever made the converter may the stall a little to low.

I find that hard to believe. It is a BD Power tranny and convertor. It only does it once in awhile. Do you really think that is the issue?

Sounds like a tight converter.
