What Turbo and Injectors

I am looking at upgrading my injectors and turbo. I have an 02 sbqc 2wd 6 spd with edge comp box, bhaf, isspro pyro boost and fuel guages. Air dog lift pump, 4 inch straight pipe. BD intake. I do quite abit of towing during the summer so egts must not climb to much. With the setup I got now I have never seen it hit but about 950 pulling my 20 ft enclosed trailer up a steep hill with the a/c on. I am looking for a good combination of a good streetable turbo that will not spike my egts with the trailer on. And what would be a good choice for injectors. I was looking at not exceedin 100 hp to help keep the heat down. Any suggestions on what others are running and how the egts are

I would think a nice upgrade would be a super b turbo and a set of 75hp injectors

Phat Shaft 62mm and Big Dawg 100hp Injectors

which to do first

which upgrade would be most beneficial to do first? would the turbo be best to go with first so I don't overheat the stock turbo a set of sticks??? Not wanting to smoke a whole lot just wanting some extra get up and go. would i be seeing better fuel mileage with either set-up

You can do either one first. If you do the injectors first you will need to turn the comp done.

Yeah a set of nice 75-85 and a super b from bd would run great! Or a set of 100-125 and a phatshaft 62 would do a great job as well

cerickson 01-11-2012 09:54 AM

what would a 3 peice intake do for me? Whats the pros and cons? And with the super B or phat shaft would I need to install head studs. As it sets now once my boost guage hits 35 lbs I am backing off the throttle to save the head gasket

Farmboy 2.0 01-11-2012 10:21 AM

I would definetely do a 3 piece exhaust manifold! it will help lower egts and free up the exhaust flow as well. With those turbos they come set at around 38-40 psi so you dont need studs but I would recommend doing then at some point

any suggestions on intake? There are a few to choose from?

As far as exhaust manifolds or Stage 2 air intakes? For Intakes any AFE or I lik the S&B's on those trucks. And as far as exhaust manifolds go BD, ATS, PDI are my top choices

^^^^ Agreed

I meant exhaust maifold not intake my bad

check out bullseye power turbos, see what you think about a s362 with a batmowheel compressor wheel.

Any of the three I listed above are great options!

something i have seen work great is a set of either 100 or 125 sticks and a compound turbo setup using your stock turbo and a holset ht3b. depending where you get the turbo, you can get them a lot cheaper then a new single and i think it spools better. for instance, i picked up a ht3b off of a volvo semi with the cummins for $50 and it worked great.

plus fabing up the piping getting new boots etc it's not just a bolt on deal. Yes compounds are a good item, but some states you can't get away with it and some people don't have the time to have truck down or ability to do it

I don't have the real know how to do a bunch of fab work. I was looking for more of a bolt on solution. I'm just worried bout the head with a new turbo. I watch all 3 of my guages closely while I'm towing and I don't let the boost guage get much over 30 psi. And I haven't seen my egt's get over 950 yet. I'm just not wanting to hurt the engine with to hot os sticks and a turbo that will blow the head off if it spools real quick.

What size of injectors would work good with the stock turbo, and also perform well when I upgrade the turbo. I don't want a set that will just make my egt's sky-rocket.
