transmission rebuild
any one have their nv 4500 rebuilt ...and if so has any one used any oil other than the castrol syntorque ....and what if any issues ? reason i ask is i just rebuilt mine and am going to put lucas 85-90 transmission lube rated for gl-4 in due to not being able to find the castrol

I just rebuilt mine and they say not to put that in there. I put syncro mesh back in mine

Don't run anything but the syncro mesh. You can use Pennzoil or another brand but if you like your transmission get the Lucas out of it.

If you use any other oil in your trans, you can hurt the syncro's. The regular oil has component that will eat at your carbon pads on the brass syncro's. The syntorque doesn't have these components. Amsoil has a real oil you can use. Amsoil is what I used in mine when I rebuilt mine. The guy that bought the truck from me started running lucas in it, he didn't run it to long before it started being hard to shift and not going into gear properly. so I'd say play it safe and just use what is recommended.
