Fog Light Questions?

OK, so my truck did NOT come with factory fog lights. So im wondering if theres any way i can buy a set from like LMC truck and buy a stock headlight switch with the fog light pull and just do the conversion.

Does anyone know if the factory fog light wiring is just tied up under the truck and all id have to do is plug it in or what?

Im really wanting/needing fog lights as my lights suck without them and i know they would help a lil. Im not wanting to do the aftermarket fog lights because i think they look gaudy and theyre never aimed right.

Please give me your ideas/thoughts

Last night was the first time that I had found myself to have to drive in thick fog. I have factory foglights and while they did not glare back into my eyes (bouncing the light off the fog); they were only bright enough to penetrate the fog enough that I could only see about 20 feet in front of me. Totally dissapointed in the factory fog light usefulness.

Sorry, don't know anything about whether the wires are there or not. I have been looking for auxilary/fog "LED" lights for a while to mount on my light and bull bar.

If the plug is there it will be up in front of the radiator on the bottom and have gray plug ends on it. On your headlight switch though you may want to check and make sure it will pull out since this is how you turn the foglights on. Just wondering if the switch might also be different not coming stock with them.

CC i have both factory fogs with upgraded 12V source, relays and wiring and also HELLA 450 driving lamps. The stock fogs are poor. Upgraded they are ok but in bad weather you still need good lamps. Get some HELLA's and be done with it.

FYI: drving lamps are better in thick fog because they cut through it where fogs will flood the area but not do much else.

yeah but i like the extra light the fog light put out in front of you on a clear night, so you dont have that big area of dark between your lights and front of truck.....i know, im weird

I do agree with you here... the fog lights on clear nights do light up right in front of you. (I like that too.)

ok, so im not the ONLY weird one

No, I use them for that reason as well - just they don't really do much in thick fog is all.

Hey Zach try the dealer. I got a complete set up when I had my 96 for under $100, But that was 7 or 8 yrs ago.Came with headlight switch and lamps.
