Loosing pedal

Have a 99 dodge 2500 cummins 24 v. I have had trouble in the past with my tps. I changed it a little under a year ago. Well started having the same problems so I went and got another one. Still didn't fix the truck. It was loosing power, and I was loosing pedal going down the road. So I took it to the dealership. They said it was my map sensor, they change it. Then Coe back and said my tps was faulty. So I took the tps back and got another one. Installed it and took truck down the road, same damn problem. I got great power but loosing pedal and the. It comes back. I am so concussed and frustrated with this truck. Any info would be great. Thanks guys

Any codes?

Wtcareof 12-16-2011 07:06 AM

There was a code for the PCM p1693. But dealership says nothing was wrong with the PCM, it was the map sensor and then the tps. They change the map sensor and I replaced the tps for the second time this week, third over all. And the truck is still doing the same thing. I am prolly taking it back to shop, but wanted more info on it, as it seems to me the shop don't know what they are doing either. I need this truck for work, so it's very aggravating for it to not be fixed. Thanks for the info

And it's still reading out the low voltage code for the tps. But there's no way that three tps's are bad. It has to be something else causing the tps to not get the correct voltage?

Wiring issue someplace, or the VP is going bad electronically.

VP? And it did have one other code, but not sure if it still does. But I have searched and searched and can not find this code anywhere. It's P1F16? Thanks

VP is your injection pump home slice. Its at the front of the engine to the right..

Have you tried doing the APPS reset procedure?

You have to adjust the apps sensor voltage, as it varies by year, you've been throwing away good sensors. And just a note- unplugging the batteries and doing that little song and dance does NOT ADJUST your apps, it will reset it but you still need to manually adjust the voltage with a meter and the process found here- APPS RESET PROCEDURE

Just had similar prob with mine this month researced the forums adjusted my my voltage on my tps hasn't done it again since. But fyi mine was so far off I had to adjust like it says then also screw in the torx screw that adjusts the idle and reset the batteries to get it back to normal idle.

ive got an 01 that had the same problem, did the voltage adjustment and now it runs like a charm...I'm pretty positive its pin 23 on the ecm block closest to the engine, probe that and write down the voltage you read then on the back of your sensor it says the correct voltage you should have, move your sensor either back or forward to adjust your voltage. Of course that an '01 idk about if the 99 is different though.
