Fuel Pump Relay
I am new here and apologize for posting this thread again but i posted it in the diesel in distress part of the forum when i should have posted it here.
I just got my first cummins but found a sick deal on another one that is for sale. The problem is it does not run. It has some sort of fuelling trouble and stalled on the owner when he was driving about 3 weeks ago. The owner contacted Cummins and they thought it was a fuel pump relay. Does that sound right? there is not CEL to check for codes. Correct me if I am wrong but a relay sound like a cheap easy and quick fix does it not? |
sure is pop the fuse box under the hood and swap with the AC relay they are the same relay good luck

Thanks Yak daddy I owe you if this works I dont think the current owner has a clue i hope that all it is is the relay not something more serious.

sounds more like the vp44 to me, a bad lift pump won't shut down a cummins until it kills the ip. If it still has the stock (ie crap) lift pump, then it is more likely the lift pump crapped out a long time ago, and has now killed the ip, wich in turn has probably killed the injectors as well. :jump: but good luck. if you got a good enough deal, then you can afford to put a couple of parts in her... I bought mine for $4k and can do a lot to her without ever touching blue book.
