Battery replacement

Guys

ok looking for some opinions here and what kind you have had luck with. 2000 Cummins with Banks kit. I need batteries. If it sits very long or isnt plugged in even close to 40 it wont start, half turn maybe. the alternator is charging fine. The batteries I have now are old Interstates ( they have the 18 Monte Carlo on there for you Nascar fans). Anyway could I get by with replacing one and going a couple weeks before doing the other? What have you found has been best battery for the buck?

thanks guys

you can load test your batteries to see if one or both are bad. auto zone will do this. as for a brand many opinions out there. i never had much luck with interstate. i will say equipment type (rough service) batteries prob. are better.:tu:

Never replace batteries individually! The new, strong battery will get drug down by the old weak battery. Always replace batteries in pairs.

I have had good luck with Strong Box batteries they are what John Deere uses. They are a little high in price but I have had them last in my trucks up to 6 years. That is what I will always use in my trucks.

I am a huge optima fan. I have had a red top in my camaro for 13 years. When my batteries die thats whats going in. Not cheap but they dont let you down. Peace of mind is worth the money for me.

Dry cells can handle abuse better.

Optimas are great batteries... They can be quite pricey tho

I found some optima batteries cheap with free shipping here: http://www.autosportcatalog.com/inde...cipn&pn=641371. What do you guys prefer yellow or red top? The yellow is more expensive, but is a deep cycle. Do our trucks really need a deep cycle battery and how much longer will it last if so?

u all will call me crazy but the old everstart batteries from walmart is all ive ever used i get 5 years out of ever set , but i do plug my truk up at temps below 40

Red Top's should be all you need, unless you run electronics a lot with the engine off.
