diesel kleen or 2 sroke oil?

I'm running diesel kleen right now every other tank since ULSD is the anti Christ. What u guys think about running 2 stroke oil instead?

I use 2 stroke but keep DK in the tool box in the winter.

I haven't done this on my 01 but used to do this on my 99. On accasion I would run a couple quarts of ATF to a tank of fuel.

Just an FYI...2 stroke oil is for chainsaws, atf is for transmissions, and power service is for a fuel tank. White bottle when its cold, gray when it is not.

Thanks for that important information, I was wondering what ATF was for, I was wondering what Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had to do with making the VP44 run longer. And now following your wise advice I only need 2 stroke in just my chain saw, not any of the other 2 stroke motors I might have. Thanks again for all you vast knowledge regarding all things in fuel additives. :moon:

I use DK every time I fill up. I've heard both good and bad about it. From personal use I can say that she starts a lot better and runs/get's up and goes better. I ran a tank dry and decided to run the truck without it once and noticed an immediate difference in how she ran. So I haven't stopped using it every fill up.

I've heard of adding 2 stroke also but I've never tried it in my rig.

Just my .02 worth...

I used 2 stroke oil for a while in my 01 no issues with it. switched over to amsoil because it's less of a mess to deal with. at least 2 stroke oils designed to burn unlike transmission fluid but some people use wast motor oil in their tanks so who knows what really harms anything

ebbtide357 12-04-2011 07:14 PM

What amsoil product are you using? i am looking at my options all the time as we all know we need something added to the fuel. i have had no problems with the 2 stroke but still i like to keep an open mind. :choochoo:

ScottyG 12-04-2011 08:04 PM

How much 2 stroke do you add?

H.R.D 12-04-2011 08:29 PM

8oz a tank I believe. You need to get ash less 2 stroke oil as well.

We're all here to help each other. The simple fact is, 2 stroke oil does nothing that Diesel Service doesn't.
It is made for our trucks to combat cold weather and the ill effects of ULSD.

I use the diesel fuel concentrate in summer and diesel concentrate plus cold flow for winter.

1oz per gallon.

AABEAR 12-04-2011 11:13 PM

B R D post says it all 2% soypowder biodiesel is the way to go.next would be Opti-Lube summer blend then Outboard. I also use Howes Diesel Treat at every fill up I also use the Outboard at 1/2 Oz per gal all year. I was using a Oz per gal before.

HydroElectric 12-04-2011 11:23 PM

that link H.R.D. posted has the ratio for the 2 stroke oil

Wirtzy 12-08-2011 06:41 PM

I use Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst and love it! On top of my truck running better, it added fuel millage too which is great for the cost of diesel.
