98 24 valve spitting & sputtering

My 98 24 valve suddenly started spitting and sputtering after i went thru an automatic car wash. It has done this in the winter just going down the road but never this time of year. I put in power service injector cleaner and power service 911 winter emergency. still spitting and sputtering when i put on the juice. Need to tow a big load soon any suggestions? please help!

When you say "spitting and sputtering," is this happening when you accelerate or simply idling? I'm thinking it maybe your TPS (throttle position sensor) going bad. OR it maybe air in your fuel line. Have you recently changed the fuel/water filter?

it only does it when i put on the coal and it smokes allot as well. the fuel filter was changed within this past year. Also the tps was replaced a cpl years ago.

I check you map sensor, if they get wet they screw with the ecm and FICM so check her out. Also how often do you change you fuel filter it shoud be ever 15K miles thats 3 months for me.

To help guys help you, create a signature with what you have done to your truck and other tidbits that may help such as fuel system upgrades

ok Thanks i will do that ASAP EW.
It is pretty much stock with 278 k on the original engine. replaced the auto transmission and the speed control chip with a computer refresh. Turns out if you dont have the same two voltage battery's it makes the tranny go nuts and put off bad readings saying to replace the chip. Transmission was shifting in and out randomly. replaced both battery's with identical OEM twins... presto transmission back to normal! the kid knows his stuff!
Does not fix my spitting and sputtering though. :argh:
