batteries

I'm wanting to get some batteries from catapillar but I need some part numbers. The people at cat in parts weren't helping me figure out anything. I want to try and get a battery with 900 to 1000 cca and great reserve time. I have heard something about going to a group 31 battery? Any help would be appreciated.

Im really not interested in those. Just too expensive And I've heard too many bad things about running gel cell in applications like a dd diesel through winter And summer and longevity, I like the ability to fully maintain wet cell. From what I hear I can get batteries from cat cheap too and I can get parts at cost from cat, Pete, kw, freight, etc

I am sure there is a cross reference guide some where on the net that can get you lined out. I will do some searching.

I've thought about that but from what I have seen I will only find the cross for the smaller battery which would be direct fit but the group 31 will be slightly longer and taller And wouldn't cross directly

Good point. If you do get bigger batts then you will have to modify the batt trays. I would call my buddy who works for CAT but he is out of work for a back injury.

i think i finally got a part number, i looked at the size for oem replacment interstate and found a cat battery with 1000 cca that is a little under an inch longer and a little taller like i have seen than the oem replacement battery. part #175-4390. now i just need to wait for cat to open tomorrow so i can call and get a price. from what i've heard you can pick up batteries from them for like 130 or less a piece at consumer cost so if i can get them at cost may be a bit cheaper. 1000 cca should be great this winter and from what i've seen nothing can beat that power for that price :tu:
