Good Deal?
I found a 2001 Dodge 3500 quadcab, 4x4, dually, 6spd manual, bone stock, 37,000mi. Price is $21,500 out the door. Yay or nay?
I really like my 7.3L but I'm worried about it becoming a money pit - 192k miles old, performance parts are expensive! :humm: |
For that money why don't you go buy a 03-05 dodge and have more horsepower than that 2001 dodge.

I just have a thing for the 2nd generation Dodge trucks, especially the duallys because they sit so high. Also, I think they sound more like a big rig. The newer CRs may have more HP but they sound "ricey" in my opinion. I'm trying to make this truck last. It will remain stock probably until it's paid off at least. But I do appreciate your opinion...I have contemplated it myself. For just a bit more, I could have bought a 6.4L PSD on Ebay. But then I gotta worry about pulling the cab for repair and all the emissions BS (I will always be a Ford guy but I respect all diesels and understand the pros/cons). Maybe I should just stick with what I got...it's paid for lol

37,000 miles is a good rare find, but the price is about $4-5k too high if you ask me.
|
that 7.3 will last FOREVER:rocking:
|
it's all worth what you want to pay for it. it's low miles, but it probably still needs gauges a lift pump etc. For that money you could buy one with more miles, but have be able to add programmer lift pump and upgraded clutch and still have some cash.
|
get a newer one unless u can get the price down on this one, 21 grand will buy u a nice newer one
|
Waaaaay to much money IMHO. Im also not a fan of stuff that old with mileage that low, chances are it did alot of sitting around. 37k miles is also about 3k miles from wheel bearings, ball joints and axle joints for a second gen dodge.

Thats not a bad deal try to get to 18K and youll have a steal.
|
I'm gonna say go for it..... Surely you can get him to maybe 18,500 maybe.... Then a lift pump, clutch, guages and you a great truck that will last forever and also the best sounding pickup out there.... even better than 12 valves in my opinion.... what interior does it have???? hopefully leather power heated seats.. :)

It was an SLT with cloth, but power everything else. No sliding rear window though :-/ And it just sold. Some rich guy (or stupid) bought it for $20k (21,500 TTL). Looks like I'm sticking with my 7.3L lol.
I appreciate the input guys. I could have bought it but as soon as my parents AND a few veterna Cummins gurus said it's too much, I said no on it. Y'all saved me $21,500! Thanks! :jump: |

Sounded like a real nice truck but I agree 21,000 too much 16,500 reasonable thatas maximum value for that,But don't discount your 7.3 yea a few miles on it but proven:rocking:

Good move passing that one up. Way too much money. I'm a hard core Cummins guy but that 7.3 will take a Pretty good beating and the Ford trucks hold up well also.
