5.9 power loss at 50 mph+
Dear Bombers,
After driving my truck for twenty minutes, my 5.9 looses power at high revs and must be down shifted and reved up. Then it drives fine for a while. I've changed the fuel filter, lift pump, drained the tank and still having the problem. JimJames |
Need more info on your truck... auto trans? mods? fuel pressure? If you don't downshift and floor it does the pedal just not respond? Could be APPS (throttle position sensor) do you know how to use the key trick and check for codes?

Dear empty wallet (diesel will do that to ya),
If I floor it the petal will not respond, until I down shift. I had a code indicating the lift pump problem. But new lift pump didn't solve problem. Fuel presure haven't checked (don't know how). The truck is a Ex-FedEx truck, we intend to make into a food truck. But the truck has other ideas. When running the truck humms, beautifully down the road. Oh the tranny is a Spicer 5 speed, fairly bullet proof I'd think. My gal Nancy and I would appreciate any help you can offer, Thanks for the reply. JimJames |
Sounds like what empty wallet said a throttel positioning sensor. Fuel pressure between the lift pump and transfer should be around 17 psi or so. Good luck.

Will Check It!
Thanks Ace,
