The problem with cork is it shrinks and compresses over time, inevitably leaking. The new pan gaskets are steel-core molded rubber, only around $10-15:

You mine as well re torque your bands while your pan is off.

I dont know what you mean by that... well I do but I dont know what to do. Never had to screw with bands on my standards
