i need help
does anyone know were to put transmission fluid in a cummins 5 speed im not very good with transmissions
Pour it right down the tranny dipstick tube a little at a time till it's on the mark. That's what I've always done. :tu:
thats what i would do but i cant find the dip stick its not under the hood. i really think i need fluid to just today i have no first or second gear but every other gear works fine
for one a nv4500 doesnt have a dipstick to check tranny fluid. theres a plug on the passager side of the transmission. it will take a 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet/breakover bar to remove. it suvers as the fill hole and the level hole
x2, careful loosening it though, can be a pain to break loose if it hasn't been serviced in awhile. Idk about the nv4500s but the nv5600s have allen head plug, big one too, can't think of the size off the top of my head. :humm:

Well I'm an id10t... I didnt realize it was a manual.
well that didnt solve the problem i filled up the trans fluid and still no 1st or 2nd gear now the truck is sitting at the trans shop
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- the trans shop called and where the stick shift conects to the trans for first and second gear broke so i didnt even need fluid like i thought |
That stinks man... They quote you a price on fixin her?
yup to fix that and a leaky seal was $250 bucks
