overheating problem

I have an 02 dodge that runs right around 190 all day long untill i step on it and throw more boost at it. My truck puts out 40psi of boost i know thats not that much boost but it rises up to 210-230 never really gets to hot but hotter then i like it. I was wondering what could cause this to happen? Thanks

Does it drop back down to 190? Have you changed out the t-stat? 40 psi does make some heat. What is the outside temperture were you are at also.

If your running a stock charger that is way over spinning the turbo that is why you have rising temps because the charger is out of its effective map range. All it is doing is sending super heated air to the motor.

Im willing your catch bottle on the front of the motor plugged the rad with oild film and that attracts road grit and debris and plugs it solid and it cannot cool. Had this happen on my 2000. Take a look at the back of the rad (fan side) and see how black and gunked up it is.

^ Wouldn't that make it run hot all the time?? :humm:

mine was on or off depended on the outside conditions and driving. just something to check

I live out in vegas so its pretty hot out here i did change the t-stat and it does have a aftermarket charger on it. It does drop back down to 190 i've flushed the cooling system i've tried almost everything i can think of to cool it. I do also have a pretty bad oil leak in the front of the motor could that cause it?

Yes the fan will make a mess of the radiator with oil. Most of the time you can clean the rad.
If it is coming out of the black bottle (oil) you can move the bottle by extending the hose and mounting the bottle somewhere else.

I have cleaned the rad before and it still did it but its not coming out of the black bottle its coming out between the block and the first case bolted to the block.
