fuel filter drain valve leaking

Just finished changing my fuel filter as I've done many many times before and this time around, the little drain valve that I use to empty the filter housing won't close all the way. Still was able to prime the filter housing and get a restart but I have a steady stream of diesel fuel flowing from the valve. I moved it back and forth from open to close to several times to see if I get it to close completely with no luck. Has anyone else run into this problem and/or ever had to replace the drain valve?

had that problem on my 2k b4 mine was cause by gunk in the bottom of the bowl messing with the seal since that was the first and last time i messed with the drain on the truck.

My orings failed on mine in the past. I replaced them with generic orings out of a kit, them applied cylinder liner soap to them before reinstalling them. This aids in installation, but it also makes the oring swell. I never use my drain.

So I presume that you don't bother draining the filter housing when you change out the fuel filter??

Correct, I don't drain the fuel out. All water and sediment is captured by the 2 filters in my FASS.

Tear out the stock :edit: and put in a dual setup on the frame

If you're referring to my lift pump I actually run a mechanical (never below 17 psi). I my opinion, the mechanical is better than the electrical (less opportunity for failure) setup. I've retained my stock LP pretty much exclusively for the function of priming my fuel filter housing at filter changes. If I misinterpreted you, feel free to correct me.
